US aircraft carrier and merchant vessel collide

The USS Harry S. Truman, a U.S. Navy aircraft carrier, collided with the merchant vessel Besiktas-M near Port Said, Egypt on Wednesday. No injuries or flooding were reported on the Truman, and its nuclear propulsion system remained unaffected. The Besiktas-M sustained damage but continued under its own power. The incident is under investigation. The Truman, home to about 5,000 crew members, had recently been deployed to the Mediterranean to support U.S. interests in the Middle East.
