Maersk Tankers is adopting wind-assisted propulsion systems to cut CO2 emissions by ordering 20 suction sails from Bound4Blue. These will be installed on five medium-range tankers in 2025 and 2026, marking the largest deployment of Bound4Blue’s eSail technology. The eSails use aerodynamic surfaces to enhance propulsion efficiency, reducing fuel consumption and emissions. This move aligns with Maersk's commitment to energy-efficient tech, following previous successful trials.
